About Us
After retiring from the aviation industry after 25 years in 2019, I attended the Organic Farm School in 2020 and returned to Whidbey Island last year to start my incubator (my business not the eggs) egg laying operation. Lunar Crest Farm is located on south Whidbey Island using space on the Organic Farm School. The hens are a cross between a Rhode Island Red hen and white Leghorn rooster and produce large brown eggs. They are excellent layers and foragers and are providing wonderful fertility to the soil
I've had chickens as a child and they were source of joy. So, I always knew I would have chickens back in my life eventually. Starting my farm business here on Whidbey Island was an easy decision. I fell in love with the beauty of the island. The community of food growers, producers and eaters is unique here and I feel honored to be part of it.

Practices
It's been so inspiring to put into practice the things I've learned about soil health and managing pasture with livestock. The chickens are fed organic feed, and are on pasture in a mobile coop that is moved onto fresh forage space on a regular basis.
