About Us
Green Art Labs is a consciously run small business in the heart of Langley. Green Art Labs was founded by Joan Green, an arts educator that has taught children for decades, in zero-waste art projects using reusable materials. Joan Green draws inspiration from the Reggio-Amelia approach to child development. Joan has held Green Arts Camps on Full Moon Rising Farm in Freeland, for several years now. Through Joan's experience with children and the arts world, she started to migrate to curating the curriculum of art boxes - a sustainable solution for families to be creative at home. As an affiliated artist with the Climate Science Alliance, Joan loves to prioritize the Earth in anything that she does. She loves getting kids’ hands moving and creating. In the process they’re learning, problem solving, engineering, crafting, imagining, and collaborating. Each art box holds so many possibilities. Recently, Joan has co-founded a local zero-waste group called RePurpose. RePurpose supports the City of Langley's Climate Action Plan, and is working with the South Whidbey Community Center on zero-waste initiatives.
